National Siblings Day Guide With Marketing Tips (April 10)
Siblings. Can’t live with them, can’t live without them. At times you hate them, but you can’t help but love your siblings. They had the same upbringing as you and understand your childhood as no one else can. National Siblings Day is just around the corner, read on to find out how your brand can celebrate!

What are the origins of National Siblings Day?
As you grow, it’s normal to see your siblings less. National Siblings Day is a lovely reminder to love and appreciate them, and perhaps take some quality time to see them. Claudia Evart, the founder and director of the Siblings Day Foundation, is the creator of this day. After the loss of her brother and sister at a young age, Evart conceived the event in their memory.
Evart chose 10 April as the date, her sister’s birthday.
The Siblings Day Foundation is working to make the day federally recognised in the USA in the same way Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are.
When is National Siblings Day?
National Siblings Day is celebrated on 10th April each year by The United Kingdom, United States, Australia, and Portugal (where it is known as Día dos Irmãos). It is also one of the social media national day holidays gaining in popularity.
There’s also a National Middle Child’s Day on 12th August (the oldest or youngest child do not have one).
Which countries have their own national observances that celebrate siblings?

National Siblings Day is celebrated across the world – particularly in the US, UK, and India
- US – 10th April
- India and Nepal, 11th August 2022 – Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu, Jain, and Sikh celebration of the brother-sister bond (does not have to be biological). On this day, a sister ties a thread (also known as a Rakhi) around her brother’s wrist to pray for his prosperity, health, and well-being. In return, the brother brings gifts and promises of protection in any circumstance.
- Although a national event in India, this is a religious celebration seen across the world.

Popular National Sibling Day Question – which sibling really has it best?

This is a question we all have our own answers to. Ask the youngest, they’ll say the oldest and vice versa, ask the oldest and they’ll say the youngest. The middle child? They’ll say the youngest and the oldest. You may bicker amongst your family as to who the favourite child is, but a recent study shows that the order in which you were born influences your career path.
According to a sample of 500 individuals from 11 career groups, middle siblings are most likely to become CEOs, Olympians or politicians, the youngest siblings are most likely to become composers, and the oldest children are most likely to become engineers or scientists.
Inspiration for National Siblings Day: What are some fun campaigns I can draw inspiration from?
The aforementioned study was conducted by Disney and published on National Siblings Day to celebrate the relationship between sisters Elsa and Anna in the movie Frozen.
Since National Siblings Day is not as widely recognised as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, you can take inspiration from those campaigns and be one of the first to push the new sibling movement. For example, Pandora’s ‘The Unique Connection’ video explores the deep-rooted bonds we have with our mothers – but not the rest of the family.
However, National Siblings Day is a growing trend and campaigns are beginning to pop up.
Here are some campaign examples:
- Hulu’s campaign on National Siblings Day showed the diversity of sibling relationships through their many productions with the taglines ‘They fight for you/ they keep it real/ sometimes too real’.
- The siblings of the Dallas Cowboy’s got together and gave an insight into what their star-studded athlete brothers are really like.
- TikTok had their ‘Sibling Anthem Check’ trend which was a comedic sound introducing the oldest, middle, and youngest children using their stereotypes such as ‘I’ve never had a hand me down, my shoes they always shine’ for the oldest.
- The UK charity for siblings of disabled children, Sibs, always begin their campaign in February – asking for stories and pictures!
Most of all, this day wouldn’t go amiss without posts on social media, so post nostalgic photos of siblings and thank you messages, share hilarious and embarrassing moments, and tag them in all the relatable sibling memes!
Marketing Takeaway for National Siblings Day
